Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong is one of the world's most vertically dramatic cities, where steel-and-glass towers rise directly from jungle-covered mountains and a harbour that never stops moving. It is also one of the world's great food cities, with a density of exceptional restaurants — from Michelin-starred Cantonese to hawker stalls — unmatched in Asia.

Travel tips for Hong Kong
Get an Octopus Card at the airport on arrival — it works on the MTR, buses, trams, Star Ferry, and at 7-Eleven and McDonald's. Top up at any station or convenience store.
The Star Ferry (HK$2.70) crossing from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central is one of the world's great short ferry rides. Take it at night for the harbour light show.
Dim sum is best on Sunday morning at 9–11am. Queue early at Tim Ho Wan (multiple locations, Michelin-starred) or book ahead at Lung King Heen at the Four Seasons.
Hong Kong's hiking trails are exceptional: the Dragon's Back trail on Hong Kong Island (8.5km, 2.5h) ends at Shek O beach. The MacLehose Trail (100km) spans the New Territories.
Taxis are affordable and drivers are honest — no tipping required. Uber also operates. The MTR is so reliable that missing a train (every 2–3 minutes) is not actually a problem.
