Copenhagen, Capital Region, Denmark
Copenhagen is the world's most liveable city and, by any serious measure, one of its most exciting food destinations. Home to Noma, Geranium, and a generation of New Nordic restaurants that have shaped how the world cooks, it is also a city of extraordinary design, harbour swimming, and a cycling culture so embedded that 62% of Copenhageners cycle to work.

Travel tips for Copenhagen
Rent a city bike (Bycyklen, DKK 29/hour via app) for the most authentic Copenhagen transport experience. The city is flat and cycling infrastructure is exceptional.
Copenhagen Card (DKK 499/24h, DKK 1,049/72h) covers unlimited Metro, S-Tog, bus, and free entry to 87 attractions including Tivoli, Louisiana, and the national museums — worth it if you plan to see 3+ attractions.
Book Geranium and Alchemist tasting menus 3–6 months in advance. For more accessible New Nordic, Amass takes walk-in reservations on the night via its website.
Harbour swimming is not a joke — CopCopenhagen Harbour Baths and Islands Brygge are genuine municipal swimming areas in the harbour, open June–August. The water is certified clean.
The Smørrebrød lunch at Aamanns (book ahead) or the more affordable Hallernes Smørrebrød is an essential Copenhagen experience — herring, roast beef, and egg with cress on dark rye bread.
